Basque Center for Applied Mathematics – BCAM has become an observer member of the European Science Open Cloud Association (EOSC) where it will participate with Dae-Jin Lee, leader of the Applied Statistics line, as a delegate of the centre.

The ratification of BCAM’s candidacy for the position of observer is a further step towards the Open Access strategy which is being implemented since 2014 with the start of BIRD, the centre’s public repository. There is where the different articles by BCAM members have been published and are available to anyone who requires them.

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative is part of the European Cloud Initiative to build a competitive data and knowledge economy in Europe. It will offer 1.7 million European researchers and 70 million professionals in science, technology, the humanities and social sciences a virtual environment with open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data, across borders and scientific disciplines by federating existing scientific data infrastructures, currently dispersed across disciplines and the EU Member States.
