Prof. Jose Antonio Lozano, Scientific Director of Basque Center for Applied Mathematics – BCAM, has been named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
(IEEE). In this way, he becomes the first and only IEEE Fellow in the Basque Country and is among the 48 of Spain.
The appointment of Prof. Lozano
has been made through the Computational Intelligence Society
and is due to his contributions in the field of distribution estimation algorithms in evolutionary computation. The Fellowship is a great recognition, as only 0.1% of the members can be selected each year.
The IEEE, established in 1963, is the largest association in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, with the goal of advancing technology and education in these areas, as well as in computer engineering and similar disciplines. The organisation is composed of more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries and produces 30% of the world's literature in the above fields.
